
Through the support of the Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co , Ltd., the Japan Heart Foundation provides grants to investigators and reseachers from ASEAN countries recommended by local Heart Foundations.
This grant program is scheduled to continue for a period of five-years, subject to earlier termination by the Japan Heart Foundation in its discretion.

l) Candidates shculd be actively engaged in research in the field of cardiovascular diseases in the institutions, school of medicine in the university, medical coileges or hospitals.
2) Candidates are responsible for obtaining written acceptance from the institutes or organizations in which they plan to receive their training in Japan. A Ietter of acceptance from such institute or organization must be accompanied with the attached Recommendation Form.
3) Candidates are responsible for obtaining written permission from their home institutes to participate in this grant program.
4) All other procedures for acceptance to the host institute in Japan must be arranged with the host institute.

The training term in Japan should commence on or before
April 1, 1993 and terminate on or before March
31, 1994 Training will be for terms of three months or less. The
attached Recomnlendation Form should be completedby the
local Heart Foundation and submitted with all
accompanying documents to the Japan Heart Foundation at least one month
prior to the beginning of the proposed training term.

The total amount of each grant will be not more than \800,000, including round trip airfare (economy class) and living expenses in Japan. The exact amount of each grant wlll be determined by the Japan Heart Foundation after considering such factors as the intended length of training in Japan. Further details will be provided by the Japan Heart Foundation.

An Executive Member or Director of local Heart
Foundation (or the Circulation Society if there
is no Hleart Foundation) should complete the attached Recommendation
Form and submit the Form together with the curriculum vitae of the candidate and all other required documents to the Japan Heart Foundation. Recommendations will be reviewed and decisions made by the Board of Trustees of the Japan Heart Foundation.
No more than one investigator or researcher will be accepted from each country each year.

Round trip airfare pius \100,000 cash will be transmitted
to the local Heart Foundation's bank account for
advance to grant recipients. The remaining amount of
each grant will be paid to the grant recipient following arrival at
the host institute in Japan.
Within two months after completing training in Japan, grant recipients are requested to submit a written report to the Japan Heart Foundation through their home Heart Foundation (or Circulation Society) describing the outcome of their training in Japan.
